Three-point showdown



Spitz advances

EFFINGHAM – Mattoon’s Jenna Spitz hit 8-of-15 3-pointers on Wednesday to advance to today’s IHSA Class 3A Effingham Regional final in the Three-Point Showdown.

The contest is to begin at 6:48 p.m. today prior to the regional championship game. Winners advance to Monday’s sectional semifinals at Salem.

Blagg, Rice advance in three-point showdown

EFFINGHAM – Charleston’s Kayla Blagg and Kim Rice advanced to today’s IHSA Class 3A Effingham Regional final in the Three-Point Showdown.

Blagg made six of 15 3-pointers and Rice hit five.

Also advancing with five shots made were Salem’s Amanda Oulrey and Amanda Oulrey.

The Three-Point Showdown is to start at 6:48 p.m. today before the 7:30 p.m. regional championship game. Winners advance to Monday’s Salem Sectional semifinals.

Thomas, Herzog advance

ARCOLA – Beth Thomas of Arcola and Brittany Herzog of Okaw Valley both advanced Wednesday at the IHSA Class 1A Arcola Sectional Three-Point Showdown.

Thomas was 8-of-15 and Herzog posted seven 3-pointers.

The contest is to begin at 6:50 p.m. today prior to the sectional championship with the final four advance to the state preliminaries at Redbird Arena Feb. 21.
