New business combines 'big city grooming' and 'small town living'

CHARLESTON — Dog owners can pamper their beloved canines at the new East Coast Grooming business.

Sisters Christina and Stephanie Cina opened East Coast Grooming on Nov. 1 at 614 W. Lincoln Ave. in the West Park Plaza shopping area. The name reflects their roots in New Jersey and their goal of combining “big city grooming” with “small town living.”

East Coast Grooming offers hair cuts, baths, toenail clippings, flea treatments, ear cleaning and plucking, tooth brushing, sea salt soaks, and other services for canines. All natural calming tablets are available to help relax anxious dogs.

“It’s a spa treatment for your dog,” said Stephanie Cina, adding they accommodate special grooming requests. “Everything has to be what is comfortable for you and your dog.”

Dog owners can make an appointment to drop off their pets at East Coast Grooming and then pick them up as soon as the appointment is done or at the end of the business day.

Christina Cina said East Coast Grooming also offers Nu Vet Plus vitamins as well as vitamin rich Doggie Java and Doggie Java Bonescotti products for their canine clients’ internal health. She said the coffee-themed Doggie Java products provide a subtle way to give vitamins to picky pets.

“This way they really like to do it. I have not found a dog yet that won’t take them,” Christina Cina said.

Other products available at East Coast Grooming include Belly Bands to aid with potty training and marking prevention, fuzzy reversible pet beds, bandannas, coats, jackets, and jumpers.

“We like the jumpers because they keep the whole dog warm, not just the chest,” Christina Cina said.

East Coast Grooming is open by appointment, but the co-owners said they are usually on site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call the grooming business at 345-1080.
