Wave enjoys happy soccer Senior Night
MHS ROUNDUP

MATTOON – Senior Tyler Orr scored two minutes before halftime igniting Mattoon to Tuesday’s 2-0 boys’ soccer Senior Night win over Decatur St. Teresa.

Junior Keevin Weber headed in senior Stephen Eades’ free kick for the other goal and the Green Wave senior goalkeeper Jimmy Pierce recorded 10 saves in the shutout win.

“Especially the second half we played well as a team,” Mattoon coach Ryan Ghere said. “It’s good to win on Senior Night.”

The Wave outshot St. Teresa 16-10 in raising its record to 11-7-3.

Mattoon is to play Thursday in a Big 12 Conference match at Decatur MacArthur before playing host to its own regional which is to start a week from today.

In the junior varsity game Luke Eads and Jose Lira scored goals in Mattoon’s 2-1 win.

The JV Wave is now 10-1.
