First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust announces mid-year promotions

After the company’s annual meeting, First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust announced the following promotions:
Chris Slabach
Chris Slabach has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer. Chris began his career with First Mid in 1993 as Vice President, Audit, Compliance, & Loan Review Officer. In his new role, Chris will monitor the overall credit quality of the bank’s loan portfolio and oversee the credit analysis and appraisal review functions. Chris holds a Bachelors Degree in Finance from the University of Wyoming and is a graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute Internal Audit School. He has also been recognized as a Certified Financial Services Auditor and a Certified Risk Professional. Chris resides in Charleston.
Pat Harrington
Pat Harrington has been promoted to Vice President, Director of Farm Services in the Trust & Wealth Management Division of First Mid. Pat joined the Farm Department in 1997 after having received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and a Master’s Degree in Agronomy from the University of Illinois. Pat is recognized as an Accredited Farm Manager, an Accredited Rural Appraiser and a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser. In his current role as Director of Farm Services, Pat will oversee the Farm Services Department, managing farm properties for a diverse group of clients and providing appraisals of rural real estate. A resident of Mattoon, Pat also serves as Treasurer of the Mattoon Foundation for Academic Excellence, as Vice Chairman of the Mattoon Ag Advisory Committee, and is Director of CEAD Council.
Melissa Wilhelm
Melissa Wilhelm has been promoted to Vice President, Chief Audit Executive. Melissa began her career with First Mid in 1993 while still attending Eastern Illinois University. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Melissa continued her career as a Staff Auditor, then later became Assistant Vice President in the Audit Department. In her current role, Melissa assumes overall responsibility of the Audit Department, overseeing audits conducted in the areas of financial reporting, compliance, information technology, trust and insurance. She also works with the Board of Directors, external auditors, regulators and legal council to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Melissa was recognized as a recipient of First Mid’s Chairman’s Award for Excellence in 2006 and is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. A resident of Charleston, Melissa is a member of Salisbury Church where she is involved in various church activities.
Annette Keagle
Annette Keagle has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager at the First Mid banking center in Tuscola. Annette joined the First Mid staff in 1998. With First Mid, she has held the positions of Customer Service Representative, Assistant Cashier, Regional Deposit Specialist, and Branch Manager. In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Tuscola banking center, and serving as Regional Deposit Specialist for First Mid’s Tuscola, Arcola, Sullivan and Taylorville banking centers. Annette has attended Parkland College, and received financial training from American Banking, Illinois Banking, and Colorado Banking Schools. In 2002, she was recipient of First Mid’s Chairman’s Award for Excellence. A resident of Tuscola, Annette is a member of the Tuscola Rotary and the Eagle Mountain Assembly of God.
Shelly Knebel
Shelly Knebel has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Assistant Cashier and Regional Deposit Specialist at the First Mid Highland main banking center. Shelly joined the First Mid staff in 1991 as a Teller. She has also served as Teller Supervisor, and Customer Service Representative. In her current role, Shelly is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Highland main banking center. She also serves as Regional Deposit Specialist for First Mid’s Highland, Maryville and Pocahontas banking centers. Shelly resides in Pocahontas.
Mandy Lewis
Mandy Lewis has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Director of Marketing. She began her career with First Mid in 2001 as a Marketing Assistant, later serving as Marketing Officer, before becoming the Director of Marketing. Mandy holds an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Lake Land College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Communications from Eastern Illinois University. She is also a graduate of the ABA Bank Marketing and Management School. As Assistant Vice President, Director of Marketing, Mandy is responsible for all marketing related activities for the company and its 26 community banking centers, its Trust & Wealth Management Division and insurance company. Among her responsibilities are marketing planning and research, product development and delivery systems, advertising and sales promotion, public relations, customer communication and special events. Mandy, a resident of Toledo, currently serves on the Reshaping Coles Board, and she was recently recognized by the Illinois Business Journal as a Rising Star for her accomplishments in her career.
Brad Pullen
Brad Pullen has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager at First Mid’s Arcola banking center. Brad joined the First Mid staff in 2003 after graduating from Eastern Illinois University. He began as a Teller and later moved into the role of Branch Manager/Loan Officer. In his current position, Brad is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Arcola banking center. A resident of Arcola, Brad is also active in several community organizations. He is a member and Past-President of the Arcola Rotary Club, a member of the Arcola Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and also serves as a Volunteer firefighter for Arcola Fire Protection District.
Danielle Thomas
Danielle Thomas has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Assistant Cashier and Regional Deposit Specialist at First Mid’s Decatur banking center. Danielle joined the First Mid staff in 2002 as an Administrative Assistant and Customer Service Representative. She has attended Richland Community College. In her current role at First Mid, Danielle is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Decatur banking center, and serves as Regional Deposit Services Specialist for First Mid’s Decatur, Champaign, Urbana, Monticello, DeLand, Mansfield, Mahomet and Weldon banking centers. Danielle resides in Mt. Zion.
Lynette Yarnell
Lynette Yarnell has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Loan Officer at First Mid’s Sullivan banking center. Lynette began her career with First Mid as a Teller in 1985. She later took a position in the Loan Department as an Administrative Assistant and eventually moved into the role of Loan Officer. In her current role, Lynette is responsible for handling the Consumer and Residential Lending needs of her customers. A resident of Bethany, Lynette currently serves as a committee member for the Moultrie County Celebration of Life — an American Cancer Society organization.
