Shelbyville beats Beecher City
BASEBALL ROUNDUP



PANA – Shelbyville has a chance to win its third straight regional as the Rams knocked off No. 8 seeded Beecher City-Cowden-Herrick Friday in the IHSA Class A semifinals, 9-7.

Isaac Smith was the winning pitcher for the Rams, coached by Tony Pullen.

Shelbyville, the No. 10 seed is to face No. 13 seed Nokomis, who pulled of a 5-3 upset over top seeded Teutopolis Thursday. The game time is set for 1 p.m.

Neoga advances to regional championship

LAWRENCEVILLE – The Neoga Indians advanced at the IHSA Class A Lawrenceville Regional Tournament with big 11-1 victory against Red Hill on Thursday.

Winning pitcher David Massengill allowed only four hits and struck out seven in a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Massengill was also strong at the plate with a double a home run and four RBIs.

Neoga, 19-7, is to face Newton in the regional championship at Lawrenceville today at 11 a.m. as the Indians go for their second straight regional title.

Arthur-Lovington falls in seventh

ASSUMPTION – Arthur-Lovington’s season came to end Thursday in the IHSA Class A regional semifinals. Meridian’s John Easter hit a 3-2 pitch into right field, driving home the winning run in a 6-5 contest over the Knights.

Michael Reed was 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs batted in, while Seth Sawyer was 2-for-4 with a double.

Andy Carver suffered the loss, giving up two hits in four innings.

Arthur finished 12-16, while Meridian takes its 16-6 record into the regional championship against fellow Okaw Valley Conference member, Decatur St. Teresa.
