Muskie Club calls sale a success

Saturday was the Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club’s first attempt at putting on an area fishermen’s sale.

Twenty tables filled with all kinds of fishing lures and paraphernalia were available to fisherman. Sellers from surrounding Lake Shelbyville communities were joined by those from as far away as Taylorville, Effingham, Mount Vernon and Palos Heights, adding diversity to the offerings.

The first day of good weather in a while may have made attendance a little lighter than hoped for, but the majority of sellers found the day successful. The Shelby County Senior Center proved to be a comfortable venue for the event. The friendliness and fun were commented on most frequently as being a great part of the day. Many good bargains and “treasures” were found.

Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club’s sale organizers Roy Schodtler and Bob Kerans both noted that the day showed that an annual sale of this nature has potential in the Lake Shelbyville area. All aspects of the event will be discussed and evaluated, along with the observations and suggestions provided by the participants, with the hope of gaining momentum and growth for the future.
