MATTOON — The Iverson A. Lumpkin Pioneer Club recently made donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Illinois, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Christian County and Blessed Babies, a Catholic Charities program. In all, the contributions totaled $1,500.
Charlotte Castle, president of the Pioneer Club’s Executive Board said the funds will go to help all three organizations with their individual needs. “I’m pleased that our funds will aid the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Illinois with their after school programs and help purchase diapers for new mothers from low or no income levels through the Blessed Baby program,” Castle said.
The Pioneer Club was established by employees of Consolidated Communications in 1969 as a part of the national Independent Telecommunication Pioneers Association.
