Petersen Health Care ranked as nursing facility company

Local health care provider Petersen Health Care was featured in Provider Magazine’s Top 50 Nursing Home Chains in the United States list for last year.

Local facilities include: Arcola Health Care Center, Eastview Terrace of Sullivan, Newman Rehabilitation, Palm Terrace of Mattoon, Sullivan Health Care and Tuscola Health Care.

Petersen Health Care, owned and operated by Mark B. Petersen, debuted in this year’s Top 20 at number 19 in the national rankings and ranked number one in Illinois.

Thompson is now R.N./R.N.P at Prairie View Care Center

Prairie View Care Center announces Patty Thompson is now a R.N./R.N.P. at the facility.

Thompson has worked at Prairie View as an L.P.N. since 1999.

Dye receives Edward Jones Managing Partner’s Award

Edward Jones investment representative John Dye of Mattoon recently received the Managing Partner’s Award for his outstanding sales and service efforts over the past year. He was one of only 654 of the firm’s more than 9,000 investment representatives to receive the award.

Dye has been serving the Mattoon area since 1981.

Edward Jones is headquartered in St. Louis.

Carle presents Advances in Medicine Award to Jakoby

Carle Foundation Hospital recently honored Michael Jakoby, M.D., with the Advances in Medicine Award.

The award is presented to a physician whose work has contributed in advances in medicine through research and invention.

Dr. Jakoby, a Carle Clinic endocrinologist since 2002, has been researching primarily diabetes and lipids.

His research includes a recent study confirming that giving insulin shots to unstable patients at mealtimes can help control blood sugar levels, resulting in better outcomes and shorter hospital stays.

Jakoby sees patients at Carle Foundation Physicians — Mattoon/Charleston.

Snyder competes 25 years of service with RR Donnelley

Neil Snyder celebrated his 25th Service Anniversary with RR Donnelley on July 2.

Snyder started as a reserve in 1980 and became a full-time material handler in April, 1982.

In September 1982, he was promoted to hoist operator and then to binder helper in 1988.

Snyder was promoted to bindery apprentice in 1990 and has been in his current position since 1993.

Snyder and his wife Tamara live in Mattoon and have two daughters.

Lading completes CPA exam

Kelsey Lading of Gilbert, Metzger & Madigan LLP, Certified Public Accountants, has successfully completed the uniform CPA examination administered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Lading has been employed with the firm as an intern and graduate assistant since October 2002 and as a staff accountant since May 2005. She works in the areas of accounting, auditing, and taxation.

Lading is a 2000 graduate of Windsor High School. She graduated with University Honors from the Honors College and Summa Cum Laude from Eastern Illinois University in December 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in business and in May 2005 with a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accountancy.

Lading resides in Lerna, and she is engaged to be married to Christopher Swing. She is the daughter of Greg Lading of Mt. Morris and Cathy Lading of Oregon. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Carolyn Barker of Shelbyville and Orvel Lading of Windsor.

Louthan celebrates 30 years with Consolidated

Karen Louthan recently celebrated her 30th service anniversary with Consolidated Communications in June.

Louthan joined the company in 1976 as a part-time routine clerk. She has since held the following positions: clerk utility, service clerk, inside sales specialist, customer service manager, customer service supervisor, customer service adviser, project coordinator, account administrator, sales rep III, and currently, account manager.

She lives in Mattoon with her husband Gary. They have two sons, Chase and Myles.

Tally celebrates 25 years with Consolidated

Lori Tally recently celebrated her 25th service anniversary with Consolidated Communications in July.

Tally joined the company in 1981 as a clerk. She has since held the following positions: utility clerk, stenographer, support clerk, customer service specialist, internal telecommunications coordinator, customer care representative, staff specialist II, and currently, business assigned specialist.

She lives in Westfield with her husband Dane and her son Seth.

wearingen is now a Certified Financial Planner Professional

Gary L. Swearingen, of the Charleston/Mattoon office of A.G. Edwards, recently earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner.

As a CFP professional, Swearingen can now offer general personal financial planning and implementation (both short- and long-term), investment and risk management advice, retirement planning counseling, estate planning, insurance evaluation and comprehensive portfolio reviews.

To become a CFP professional, Swearingen had to demonstrate ability to analyze and develop personal financial plans. He also had to successfully complete a series of rigorous financial planning courses and examinations offered by the college of financial planning.

Swearingen lives at Lake Mattoon with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Kyra. He has been with A.G. Edwards since 1998.

Dr. El Ansary earns highest certification in pain control

Sarah Bush Lincoln Anesthesiologist Mohamed El Ansary, M.D., became a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) after passing the board certification exam administered by the World Institute of Pain and American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. It is recognized worldwide as the highest certification in interventional pain management.

Dr. El Ansary is also certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, holds a subspecialty certification in pain management, and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management.

He works in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Surgery Department and in the Interventional Pain Clinic at Sarah Bush Lincoln, helping relieve chronic pain in people and applying pain blocks prior to under going orthopedic surgery.
