Charleston woman, passenger injured

CHAMPAIGN County -- A Charleston woman and her passenger were taken to an Urbana hospital Saturday morning after their vehicle struck a utility pole off Interstate 57 between Rantoul and Champaign-Urbana, according to an accident report released by Illinois State Police District 10 Headquarters in Pesotum.

Nicole Stacy, 21, and her passenger, Shondell Jackson, 32, of Chicago were both injured at 10:08 a.m. Saturday near milepost 247 along I-57. Stacy was driving a 1991 Oldsmobile northbound when she lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason, causing the car to leave the roadway, according to the accident report. Stacy was ticketed for improper lane usage and not wearing a seat belt.

Jackson was reported in good condition at the hospital, but no information was available Sunday on Stacy's condition at Carle Foundation Hospital.
